We begin with the problem, the people affected and the outcome required. AI is used only when it offers a clear advantage over simpler, more predictable approaches.
Responsible AI
Our commitment to responsible AI
Colligere AI Analytics is committed to developing and using AI responsibly, with rigorous evaluation, clear boundaries and people at the centre. We build AI to support human expertise and productivity, with security, transparency and accountability guiding how our systems are designed, tested and used.
Our approach
Responsible AI starts with deciding when AI should be used
Not every problem needs an AI solution. We first consider whether AI is appropriate, what value it can add and what safeguards are needed for the people, data and decisions involved.
Human oversight is built into design, review and decision-making, with clear points for intervention, escalation and override.
We consider data quality, relevance, representativeness, privacy and provenance before data is used to train, test or operate an AI-supported system.
Roles, acceptable uses, decision rights and responsibilities are defined so AI-supported work remains governed and reviewable.
Development, evaluation & operation
Evidence before deployment. Oversight throughout.
We assess the model and the system around it, using defined criteria and realistic conditions. Responsibility continues through controlled releases, monitoring and human review.
Develop for a defined task
We select methods around the intended use, compare with appropriate baselines and separate training, validation and test data where training is involved. Model versions, evaluation criteria and limitations are documented.
Test under realistic conditions
We evaluate errors, robustness and performance across relevant groups, settings and variations in data. Testing includes incomplete or unfamiliar inputs and end-to-end workflows, with user and expert review where appropriate.
Control releases and updates
Our models are task-specific and do not autonomously retrain from live data or user interactions. Retraining, model replacements and material changes require review, testing and approval before release.
Monitor and reassess
Fixed model parameters support controlled evaluation, but performance can still change as data and conditions vary. We monitor quality and feedback, investigate concerns and restrict, update or withdraw systems when needed.
Practical safeguards
Human responsibility remains central
Human judgement and fairness
AI supports expertise and productivity rather than replacing professional judgement. We examine unequal performance and give people the information and authority to question outputs, correct errors and stop a workflow.
Privacy and security by design
Data permissions, access, retention, hosting and infrastructure are considered alongside model behaviour. Controls reflect the sensitivity of the information and the context in which it will be used.
Proportionate technology
We use AI where the scale or complexity of a task makes manual work impractical, or where it provides a clear productivity benefit. Model size, automation and computing resources should remain proportionate to that value.
